⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Vados
Age: Ancient. Her exact age is never stated in canon, but she’s immortal and has been implied to have lived for millions of years.
Canon: Dragonball Super
Canon Point: End of series

Background: here

Personality:

Vados is an ancient being, having been alive for millions of years. While she isn’t all-knowing, she has a wealth of life experience to draw from. Her duties as an angel attendant include training her universe’s god of destruction, Champa, helping to maintain the balance between creation and destruction, and indirectly encouraging the growth of mortal species through maintaining that balance. Her long lifespan and her duties make her somewhat detached from the concerns of individual mortals, and even coming across as cold and aloof at times. She sees the bigger picture, and her relative position in the universe. Becoming overly invested in any mortal is counter-productive to her overall purpose.

That isn’t to say that Vados doesn’t have her favourites or that she’s completely indifferent. There are mortals that she likes enough to keep track of, and she enjoys watching their development. Especially skillful mortals and/or those with interesting abilities will get her attention, if only because it’s not something she sees regularly enough for it to be common. She is aware of her universe’s strongest warriors and knows how to get in contact with them if she so pleases. When Kale and Caulifla use Potara earrings to fuse, Vados watches with interest and comments on how the fusion creates not only a new body but also a new personality, and results in a significant increase in power that’s more than the sum of the two fusees. She does pay enough attention to not only realize what someone’s abilities are but also how they work, and is able to properly explain the ability of one of her universe’s warriors, Hit, when even Champa doesn’t understand it. Vados also finds enjoyment in the food from various worlds. She’s not so detached from mortal existence that she can’t appreciate some good quality cuisine as much as an enthusiastic mortal foodie.

Vados has a mischievous streak. She likes to tease others now and then, and subtly instigate for her own amusement. One example of Vados instigating was putting only one fruit on the birthday cake made for Champa and Beerus, despite knowing that the twin gods of destruction are incredibly competitive with one another and that it could be dangerous for both universe six and universe seven if the brothers were to have an all out brawl against one another. Champa is the most frequent target when she wants to tease someone. When he complains about not liking the appearance of one of universe eleven’s warriors because he looks like Beerus, Vados is quick to remind her student that this means that Dypso also looks like Champa. When Champa is distressed at the possibility of being erased if universe six loses the Tournament of Power, Vados mock-cries and says she will miss him before laughing since she and the other angel attendants won’t be erased regardless of which universe wins. She also finds entertainment in the antics of mortals, and she’s quite happy to act as a referee for a baseball game between universe six and universe seven. It’s a silly way for some of the strongest warriors of each universe to compete, and Vados is calmly amused by it.

Despite her occasional bratty inclinations, Vados does have a kind side and genuinely cares for Champa. She shows concern for his health by preparing him healthy meals, watching his sugar intake, and pushing him to exercise. She lightly reprimands him when he’s being lazy (such as telling her to destroy a planet instead of doing his job as the god of destruction) and is diligent in watching over him. She is saddened when he and the rest of universe six are eliminated from the tournament and subsequently erased from existence by Zeno, although this is expressed through a respectful bow and growing quieter for a while. She goes to sit with her brother Whis afterward rather than sitting by herself, showing some fondness and preference for universe seven over the other remaining universes.

Vados is an insightful, composed and polite person. Even when she is being a brat, she’s never crass. She generally speaks to others in a direct and respectful manner, regardless of how strong they are. When talking about her own abilities, she’s confident without being a braggart. When asked how her power compares to that of her brother Whis, she simply says she’s a little stronger and leaves it at that. Considering that she’s able to take down a god of destruction with one hit if she needs to get him under control, she’s quite powerful, aware of it, and doesn’t feel the need to boast. When many of the gods present at the Tournament of Power resent Goku for suggesting the tournament to Zeno. Vados is the first to realize that Zeno had planned for eight of the twelve universes to be erased regardless, and by suggesting the tournament, Goku has given the eight universes participating a chance for survival that they otherwise didn’t have. She’s able to analyze situations and abilities, and maintain calm even in strange and dire situations.

Abilities:

Vados is the strongest being within universe six, with an extensive list of abilities shared by her species. These include being the fastest being in universe six (thanks to her warp ability), ki manipulation, materializing objects out of thin air with her staff, healing, divination (using her staff to see past and present events throughout the universe), time manipulation (such as turning back time by three minutes), and she’s durable enough to easily shrug off attacks from a god of destruction and take said god of destruction down with a single hit if needed. Her instincts and reflexes are so refined from training for millions of years that her brain doesn’t even need to register an attack - her body will just naturally react. This is referred to as Ultra Instinct. When Vegeta is observing her casually walking, he notes with some surprise that she leaves no openings for an attack. That being said, Vados is an observer rather than an active participant in combat unless there’s a situation that requires her intervention, such as having to restrain Champa before he causes excessive destruction within the universe.

Alignment: Daimonia. Vados has a mischievous streak, and joie de vivre. She finds pleasure in simple things like food, and entertainment in the antics of others. She is still capable of quietly grieving and feeling loss even with millions of years of life experience and seeing too many lives to count lost over those years.
